Work you can hand to an agent and still stand behind.
LaFollett Labs is an agentic engineering company. Autonomous agents do the building here, inside limits that are written as code rather than as good intentions. Two products come out of that: one that runs a back office, one that runs a company.
How we work
Agentic engineering is not "we use AI to code faster." It is the harder question underneath: what has to be true before you can let something work unsupervised and still be answerable for what it did?
01
Rules are code, not documents
A policy an agent can talk its way past is a suggestion. The limits that matter get enforced at the point of action, where no amount of good argument gets through.
02
Everything lands as a draft
Autonomy is cheap; accountability is the expensive part. Work can go all the way to the edge of the outside world on its own, and stop there for a person to sign.
03
The record is the source of truth
Every change is attributed to whoever made it and kept. "What happened while I was asleep" should be a question with a diff for an answer, not a guess.
04
Removal is a first-class act
Agents accrete structure and never take any away. Each addition is defensible and the pile is not, so the pressure to simplify has to be built in rather than hoped for.
None of that is a position paper. Riff is the version of it you can read and run, and this website went through the gates it describes. How we got here.
